About Course

The objective of this two-week self-learning module, spanning Week 1 and Week 2, is to provide learners with a comprehensive introduction to the IELTS exam, with a focus on the Listening section.

Starting with Day 1, the module aims to demystify the IELTS format and scoring system, empowering students with the knowledge they need to navigate the test successfully. Days 2-4 are dedicated to a deep dive into the various question types found in the Listening section, equipping learners with targeted strategies for each.

On Day 5, learners will take a full-length practice test for the Listening section to apply what they’ve learned and gauge their initial level of preparedness. Days 6-7 will be spent on a detailed analysis of the practice test, allowing learners to identify strengths to leverage and weaknesses to address in subsequent weeks of study.

By the end of these two weeks, learners will have a solid foundational understanding of the IELTS exam and be well-prepared to tackle the Listening section with confidence.

Introduction to IELTS and Listening

From Days 24 to 28, the focus will be on exploring different types of essays—such as argumentative, descriptive, and solution-oriented essays—and the corresponding structures that each type should follow. On Day 29, learners will have the opportunity to implement what they have learned through a timed practice test, which will simulate the conditions of the real exam. On Day 37, learners will engage in real-world practice either by speaking with a partner or by recording themselves to assess their proficiency and readiness. Objectives The objective of this self-learning module spanning Days 40 to 45 is to provide learners with a comprehensive practice and review framework for mastering the four core skills of Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. On Day 40, learners will engage in a full-length practice test, simulating the conditions of the actual exam to evaluate their proficiency in all four areas. Days 41 and 42 are dedicated to a meticulous review and analysis of this first practice test, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and strategies for improvement. On Day 43, a second full-length practice test will be administered to measure progress and adapt strategies. This is followed by Days 44 and 45, which are focused on the final review and analysis of the second practice test. The goal is to equip learners with the insights and experience needed to excel in their actual assessments, providing both the practice and the reflective analysis essential for continuous improvement. Week 6: Full-Length Practice Tests Lecture 1: Introduction to Full-Length Practice Test 1. In this introductory lecture, explain the format, objectives, and expectations of the first full-length practice test covering Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Discuss the importance of simulating exam conditions for the test, as well as tips for time management and focus. Lecture 2: Taking Full-Length Practice Test 1. This lecture will essentially be the full-length practice test for Day 40, simulating the actual conditions of the exam. Instructors will administer tests covering Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, ensuring that time limits are strictly adhered to. Lecture 3: Initial Review of Practice Test 1 - Listening & Reading. This session begins the analysis phase, focusing on the Listening and Reading sections of the practice test taken on Day 40. Discuss common mistakes, techniques for improving scores, and answer any questions that learners may have. Lecture 4: Initial Review of Practice Test 1 - Writing & Speaking. Continuing from Lecture 3, this session focuses on the Writing and Speaking sections. Provide insights into how learners can improve, discuss common pitfalls, and go over strategies for crafting effective answers. Lecture 5: Introduction to Full-Length Practice Test 2 Much like Lecture 1, this lecture will introduce learners to the second full-length practice test to be taken on Day 43.
